Portsmouth, New Hampshire was once world famous for it’s shipbuilding….the clipper ship in particular.  One of the longest lived clippers was built in Portsmouth in 1850….dubbed the “sea serpent”, it was considered the pinnacle of that style of ship….active for 35+ years sailing the world until abandoned at sea.
